Director, Japan Society, 1952-, president, 1952-70, chairman of board, 1970-.

Trustee, Princeton University, 1937-67, emeritus, 1967-; National Council of the United Negro College Fund, 1958-65, chairman, honorary chairman of trustees, 1965-69; Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, 1961-70, chairman, honorary chairman, 1970-.
