CHAPTER 1.

AN ACT to appropriate one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to defray the expenses of the seventy-second general assembly of the State of Indiana, providing how the expenses and employes thereof shall be incurred and paid, how the officers, employes and assistants thereof shall be selected, repealing all laws in conflict therewith, and declaring an emergency.

Appropriation-Expenses General Assembly.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of the State of Indiana, That the sum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, to defray the expenses of the seventy-second general assembly of the State of Indiana. If any part of the amount thus appropriated shall remain after all the expenses of the said seventy-second general assembly shall have been paid, the amount so remaining shall revert into the general fund of the state treasury: Provided, however, That in no case shall the amount hereby appropriated or any part thereof be available after September 30, 1921, for any expenses which may have been incurred by the seventysecond general assembly.

Members-Per Diem and Mileage.

SEC. 2. That it shall be the duty of the auditor of state to audit the accounts and issue his warrant upon the treasurer of state for the per diem and mileage of senators and representatives as allowed by law and also such additional allowances for any necessary expenses incurred in the performance of duty as may be provided by resolution of either house of said general assembly upon the certificate, in the case of senators, of the president of the senate, and in case of representatives, upon the certificate of the speaker of the house of representatives, setting forth the time of service and the amount of mileage and allowance to which such

SEC. 3. The senate shall elect a secretary, assistant secretary and principal doorkeeper whose pay each shall be six dollars ($6.00) per day. The appointment of any employes and the payment of the same and the purchase of any supplies and the payment for the same, heretofore appointed or purchased for the senate of the seventy-second general assembly, in conformity with senate rule 55, are hereby legalized.

House Officers and Employes-Per Diem.

SEC. 4. The house of representatives shall elect a principal clerk, assistant clerk and principal doorkeeper whose pay, each, shall be six dollars ($6.00) per day. The appointment of any employes and the payment of the same and the purchase of any supplies or printing and the payment of the same that are authorized by house resolution No. 2, heretofore adopted at this session, is hereby legalized.

Duty of Auditor of State.

SEC. 5 That it shall be the duty of the auditor of state to audit the accounts and issue warrants upon the treasurer of state for the per diem of the officers, employes and assistants of the senate and house of representatives as may be authorized or employed respectively by such. house or senate or its authorized officer or committee, and including the principal officers of such senate and house of representatives, clerks, stenographers, doorkeepers, assistant doorkeepers, postmasters, assistant postmasters, janitors, pages and such other assistants and employes as may be so authorized or employed by such senate or house of representatives or its authorized officer or committee. Where the pay of such officers, employes or other assistants is herein fixed, they shall be paid accordingly. In other cases, their pay shall be fixed by the house of the general assembly employing them, or by its committee authorized. by such house so to do.

Repeal.

SEC. 6. All laws and parts of laws in conflict therewith are hereby repealed.

Emergency.

SEC. 7. Whereas an emergency exists for the immediate taking effect of this act, the same shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 2.

AN ACT to amend sections four (4) and five (5) of an act entitled "An Act to incorporate the trustees of Evansville College, defining the powers and duties of such Trustees, giving certain powers and authority to the Board of Trustees of Moores Hill College, and legalizing certain acts of said Board of Trustees in transferring and removal of certain property, and declaring an emergency," approved February 17, 1919, and declaring an emergency.

Board of Trustees-Number and Election.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of the State of Indiana, That section 4 of the above entitled act be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 4. The trustees of said college shall be thirtysix (36) in number, of whom nine (9) shall be elected by the chamber of commerce of the city of Evansville, Indiana, or its successor; eighteen (18) by the Indiana conference of the Methodist Episcopal church, of which last number three (3) may be nominated by the alumni association of said college; and the remaining nine (9) shall be elected by the members of the board of trustees of said college. Said trustees at their first meeting after the passage of this act shall by lot divide themselves into three (3) classes of equal number; in each class there shall be three (3) trustees elected by the chamber of commerce, and six (6) trustees elected by the Indiana conference, and three (3) of those elected by the board of trustees themselves; the term of office of each class shall be one (1), two (2) and three (3) years respectively after the day of said classification, and
