Too bad, that circumstances prevented several of the members of L. U. 407 from being present. Anyway, let us hope they will enjoy looking at the faces of their co-workers and "Buddies."

BANQUET at the Welland Inn Hotel at St. Catherines, Ont., Canada, was the occasion for a get together for members of our Local 407. This is one of our staunch and enthusiastic local organizations and has functioned more than twenty-seven years without a day of discord.

Alderman, Brother Peter Grant, one of the outstanding citizens of his home city, acted as Master of Ceremonies of the evening and in his capacity introduced the Honorable Mayor J. D. Wright, Major Hugh M. Bell of the Chamber of Commerce and General Organizer Fred Molineux as speakers of the evening. In opening the meeting Brother (Alderman) Peter Grant read a telegram from International General Vice-President Hunter expressing regret at being unable to be with the members on the occasion of their celebration by reason of other engagements in a distant section of the Dominion.

One of the interesting events of the occasion was the statement made by the Master of Ceremonies that Local 407 was organized on August 2nd, 1901, and that among the charter members active at this time were Brothers J. R. Albon, W. A.

Beatty, Geo. Buyers, Wm. H. Chapman, E. A. Day, C. D. Forsythe, John Honsberger, G. B. Hopgood, S. S. Kennedy, Thos. A. Leach, Thos. McGlashan, Wm. D. Outram, John Sinclair, Chas. Tait and Wm. McCann.

During the course of the banquet the toast to our Brotherhood was proposed by Major Hugh M. Bell who brought to the gathering the greetings of the Chamber of Commerce. This toast was responded to in a pleasing manner by General Organizer Fred Molineux, and upon the conclusion of his remarks, Brother Molineux presented to the Mayor a statement of the growth of the Brotherhood accompanied by a history of the organization.

One of the outstanding features of the evening were presentations to Brother William Outram who for twenty-seven years has served as Recording Secretary of the Local, Sidney Hopgood, Treasurer for an equal length of time, and William Beatty, who has served twenty-two years as Financial Secretary. The presentations were made by Brother Eugene Groombridge, and the acknowledgment speech was given by Brother Outram.
