Second Reading of Senate Bill No. 49 entitled "An Act to Establish the Liabilities and Rights of Inn-Keepers and Like Persons with respect to Baggage and Property of Guests."

Senator Chillingworth moved that the Report of the Committee on the Bill be adopted. Seconded by Senator Lane and carried.

Senator Chillingworth gave notice of intention to introduce the following Bills:

Third Reading of Senate Bill No. 44 entitled “An Act amending Section 1223 of the Revised Laws of Hawaii, relating to the Exemption from Taxation of Property used in certain Industries."

Senator Smith moved to amend Section 1 by inserting the word "pineapples" after the word "starch" in line 7, and by adding at the end thereof the words "provided, however, that such exemption shall not apply to any land in excess of two hundred acres so used by any one person, firm or corporation." Secended by Senator Woods and carried.

The Bill passed Third Reading as amended on the following showing of Ayes and Noes:

Ayes: Senators Coelho, Hayselden, Hewitt, Kalama, Knudsen, Lane, Makekau, Smith and Woods-9.
