LIBRARY OF CONGRESS COPYRIGHT OFFICE DECISIONS OF THE UNITED STATES, COURTS INVOLVING COPYRIGHT 1918-1924 COPYRIGHT OFFICE BULLETIN No. 19 见 WASHINGTON COVERNMENT FRINTING OFFICE 1925 L13917 FEB 11 1938 By direction of the Librarian of Congress, the matter contained This volume is for sale by the Superintendent of Documents COPYRIGHT NOTICE The courteous permission given for the use in this volume of II PREFACE There is continued interest in the judicial decisions construing the copyright act of March 4, 1909. The earlier decisions (few in number) were printed as addenda to my three annual reports (19111913). Cases.reported in 1913-14 (24 in number) were collected and printed as a separate Copyright Office Bulletin (No. 17) and those for 1914-1917 (more than 100) are contained in Copyright Office Bulletin No. 18, which includes also a number of decisions of State courts and departmental decisions and opinions dealing with the general subject of literary property. The present collection of decisions continues the series and brings it down to May 13, 1924. The compilation and subject index has been made by Mr. Herbert A. Howell. It is believed that the contents of this volume, with the decisions of courts and departmental officers published in my annual reports, above referred to, and in Copyright Office Bulletins Nos. 17 and 18, together form a fairly comprehensive, if not entirely complete, collection of the authoritative interpretations of the present copyright act, which have been delivered from July 1, 1909, down to the date when the latest case in this volume was reported. Attorneys or others using the volume will do the Copyright Office a favor by reporting to it any cases which may have been overlooked. For the convenience of those interested in these decisions the table of cases has been made complete, to include not only those printed in this bulletin (No. 19), which are indicated by asterisks, but also all cases previously printed in the annual reports of the Register of Copyrights and in the earlier bulletins of this series. Copies of these bulletins are sold by the Superintendent of Documents in cloth binding at the following prices: No. 17, 30 cents; No. 18, 60 cents; No. 19, $1. AUGUST 1, 1924.
