During 1917 forty-four individuals and firms have entered for sale in this state 410 brands of fertilizers classified as follows: During the spring months V. L. Churchill, the sampling agent of the Station, visited about 100 towns and villages of the state and gathered samples of commercial fertilizers. Precipitated bone phosphate.. I. RAW MATERIALS CHIEFLY VALUABLE FOR NITROGEN. NITRATE OF SODA, OR SODIUM NITRATE. As offered in the Connecticut market this year, nitrate of soda has contained an average of 15.44 per cent. of nitrogen, equivalent to 93.6 per cent. of pure sodium nitrate.
