EDWIN ALEXANDER HALSEY, Secretary of the Senate (1324 Ingraham Street, phone, GEorgia 2175), son of Don Peters and Sarah (Daniel) Halsey, was born at "Fern Moss," Tye River, Nelson County, Va., September 4, 1881; educated in the public schools of Virginia, the Locust Dale (Va.) Academy, and at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute; was appointed colonel on the staff of Gov. William H. Mann, of Virginia, in 1910, and subsequently served on the staff of Gov. Henry C. Stuart, of Virginia; was elected Sergeant at Arms of the Democratic National Committee in 1928; served as the Sergeant at Arms during the Democratic National Conventions at Houston, Tex., in 1928, and at Chicago, Ill., in 1932; has served continuously as an employee of the Senate in various capacities since December 6, 1897, and during this period served 16 years in the Press Gallery; married Miss Mary Younger, of Lynchburg, Va., March 14, 1917, and they have one son-Edwin A. Halsey, jr.; unanimously elected Secretary of the Senate on March 9, 1933.
