Further, that is only one side. But I have a promise on the other side that a representative of the splendid ladies of your Association is also going to be our guest at the same meetingMiss Lathrop, who is going to speak.

Now, sir, may I repeat a phrase-I am not sure that I am accurate, but some of you Biblical scholars here will correct me if I am not what Jehoshaphat said to Jehu when they met, "If thy heart is right as my heart is to thy heart, then give me your hand."

The President:

The Chair will now recognize Mr. Gurney E. Newlin, of Los Angeles, Cal.

Mr. Newlin:

Mr. President and Members of the Association: I move the adoption of the following resolution:

The American Bar Association at the close of its forty-ninth annual meeting, marked by the largest attendance in its history and by the consideration of vital and timely subjects concerning the efficient administration of justice in the civil and criminal courts of the land, desires to express its indebtedness to the Bar of Colorado and of Denver for hospitality peculiarly friendly and uniformly helpful. Even in these inspiring surroundings the great success of this gathering could not have been attained without the generous cooperation of Denver's lawyers and citizens.

We especially desire to thank the women of Denver for the delightful entertainment which they have given to the members of our families who have accompanied us.

The week spent in this beautiful city will never be forgotten by those who were privileged to enjoy it, and during the years to come we shall always recall this meeting with only the most pleasing recollections.

The motion was seconded.

The President:

All those in favor of the adoption of this resolution will please rise. (The audience arose.) I do not call for a negative vote because I know there will be none. The President wishes to specially add to the resolution adopted his sincere thanks for the assistance, not only to himself but also to the officers of this Association and to the members generally, of the Boy Scouts, who have been so helpful in carrying on the business of this Association.

I want to say one word more in regard to the annual dinner tonight. In no other city where I have attended annual meetings have such elaborate preparations been made for the annual dinner as have been made by the Colorado Bar Association for the dinner tonight. We have a good list of speakers. You will hear speeches from the President of the Canadian Bar Association and from the incoming President of this Association. There are other good speakers on the program, and I hope that you will be there promptly at 7 o'clock. We hope to begin the speaking by nine and get through at an early hour so that you can rest tonight and enjoy the elaborate preparations that have been made for the various trips tomorrow and next day.

I now declare this forty-ninth annual meeting of The American Bar Association adjourned sine die.

WILLIAM P. MACCRACKEN, JR., Secretary.
