The Secretary General of the League of Nations informed the Secretary of State by a circular letter dated November 23, 1934, that the instrument of ratification by Colombia of the international convention for the suppression of the circulation of and traffic in obscene publications, signed at Geneva September 12, 1923, was deposited with the Secretariat on November 8, 1934.

SAFETY

INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR THE SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA New Zealand

The British Ambassador at Washington, by a note dated December 28, 1934, informed the Secretary of State that the notification of the accession of New Zealand to the convention for the safety of life at sea, signed at London on May 31, 1929, was received by the British Government on November 19, 1934. The convention will become effective in respect of New Zealand on February 19, 1935.

CONVENTION FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF THE TRAFFIC IN WOMEN OF FULL AGE 10

Bulgaria

The American Minister to Bulgaria reported by a despatch dated November 23, 1934, that the Bulgarian Government has adhered to the convention for the suppression of the traffic in women of full age, signed at Geneva October 11, 1933. The decree approving the adherence was signed on August 24, 1934, and promulgated in the Official Gazette of November 12, 1934.

INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF THE TRAFFIC IN WOMEN AND CHILDREN 11

Colombia

The Secretary General of the League of Nations informed the Secretary of State by a communication dated November 23, 1934, that the instrument of ratification by Colombia of the international convention for the suppression of the traffic in women and children, signed at Geneva September 30, 1921, was deposited with the Secretariat on November 8, 1934.

CONVENTION FOR THE UNIFICATION OF CERTAIN RULES RELATING TO INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORTATION BY AIR1

Czechoslovakia-India

The Polish Ambassador at Washington informed the Secretary of State by notes dated December 14, 1934, that the convention for the unification of certain rules relating to international transportation by air, signed at Warsaw October 12, 1929, had been ratified by Czechoslovakia and adhered to by India. The instrument of ratification by Czechoslovakia was deposited with the Polish Ministry for Foreign Affairs on November 17, 1934. The adherence by India was notified to the Polish Government by the Government of Great Britain on November 20, 1934, and, in accordance with paragraph 3. article 38, of the convention, will become effective 90 days after the date of the notification.

CONVENTION RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF AERIAL NAVIGATION *

Spain

The American Ambassador to Spain reported by a despatch dated November 23, 1934, that the law approving the adherence of Spain to the convention relating to the regulation of aerial navigation, signed at Paris on October 13, 1919, was published in the Gaceta de Madrid of November 22, 1934.

PUBLIC NOTICES AND PRESENTATION OF VIEWS IN CONNECTION WITH FOREIGN-TRADE AGREEMENTS

Finland

Notice was given by this Government on December 19, 1934, of its intention to negotiate a trade agreement with Finland.

The Committee for Reciprocity Information has prescribed that all information and views in writing and all applications for supplemental oral presentation of views in connection with this proposed agreement shall be submitted to the chairman of the Committee in care of the United States Tariff Commission, not later than 12 o'clock noon, February 4, 1935. Oral presentation of views by persons whose applications therefor have been approved will be heard February 11, 1935.

The Netherlands

A notice similar to the above was given by this Government on December 12, 1934, of its intention to negotiate a trade agreement with the Government of the Netherlands, including Netherland India, Netherland Guiana, and the Netherland West Indian Islands. All applications for supplemental oral presentation of views shall be submitted to the chairman of said Committee, care of the United States Tariff Commission, not later than 12 o'clock noon, January 28, 1935. Oral presentation of views by persons whose applications therefor have been approved will be heard February 4, 1935.

FINANCE

INTERNATIONAL CON ENTION FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF COUNTERFEITING CURRENCY

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

By a note dated December 7, 1934, the Secretary General of the League of Nations informed the Secretary of State that he had received a communication from the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics stating that it had no objections to the reservation which the Polish Government wishes to make on behalf of the Free City of Danzig in regard to its ratification of the convention for the suppression of counterfeiting currency, signed at Geneva April 20, 1929.

Yugoslavia

By a circular letter dated December 11, 1934, the Secretary General of the League of Nations informed the Secretary of State that the Yugoslav Government had notified him by a communication dated November 30, 1934, that it has no objections to the reservations which the Polish Government desires to make on behalf of the Free City of Danzig in regard to its ratification of the international convention for the suppression of counterfeiting currency, signed at Geneva on April 20, 1929.

CONVENTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY

Japan

By a note dated December 4, 1934, the Swiss Minister at Washington informed the Secretary of State that the adherence of Japan to the convention for the protection of industrial property as revised at The Hague November 6, 1925, was notified to the Swiss Federal Council under date of November 14, 1934. The Japanese Government has declared the said convention to be applicable to Korea, Formosa, and South Sakhalin, in pursuance of article 16 bis of the convention of the Union. The adherence will become effective on January 1, 1935.

CONVENTION FOR THE MARKing of the WEIGHT ON HEAVY PACKAGES TRANSPORTED BY VESSELS 6

Switzerland

The Secretary General of the League of Nations informed the Secretary of State by a circular letter dated December 4, 1934, that the instrument of ratification by Switzerland of the convention for the marking of the weight on heavy packages transported by vessels, adopted by the International Labor Conference at its twelfth session (Geneva, May 30-June 21, 1929), was registered with the Secretariat on November 8, 1934.

Eritrea-Italian Somaliland

The American Ambassador to Belgium transmitted to the Secretary of State with a despatch dated December 6, 1934, a copy and translation of a note received by him from the Belgian Ministry for Foreign Affairs concerning the adherence by Italy, on behalf of Eritrea and Italian Somaliland, to the convention establishing uniform rules with respect to assistance and salvage at sea and to the convention for the unification of certain rules relating to collisions at sea, both of which were signed at Brussels on September 23, 1910.
