20, resigned August 13, 1924. Mr. Sperry, who was appointed from Florida on October 15, 1920, has been examining part of Class No. 70, Automobile Locks. He is a graduate of George Washington University with the degree of B. S.

Mr. Sperry is leaving to associate himself with the Western Electric Co., in New York.

Mr. Wm. W. Townsend, an associate patent examiner in Div. 29, retired Aug. 5, 1924. Mr. Townsend was appointed Jan. 3, 1881 and was promoted to the grade of 1st assistant patent examiner on March 20, 1922.

Mr. Robert Aiton, an assistant patent examiner in Div. 25, retired Aug. 20, 1924. Mr. Aiton was appointed on August 9, 1882, and was promoted to the grade of assistant patent examiner on July 1, 1924.

Mr. John B. Davis, an assistant patent examiner in Division 2, also retired August 20, 1924. Mr. Davis was appointed May 13, 1882, and was promoted to his present grade on July 1, 1924.

Mr. Bernard S. Franklin, a junior patent examiner on the temporary roll of this Office, resigned Sept. 10, 1924. Mr. Franklin, who was assigned to Division 23, is resigning to acept an offer to study under a fellowship during the coming year at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Mr. Richard Spenser, a junior patent examiner in Div. 30, resigned August 15th. Mr. Spenser, who was appointed June 28, 1923, has been examining illumination and typewriters in Div. 30. He is resigning to take a course at Harvard University.

Mr. Raymond L. Carr, an assistant patent examiner in Div. 10, resigned Aug. 8, 1924. Mr. Carr was appointed July 6, 1921, from Mass.

Mr. Theodore E. Simonton, a junior patent examiner in Div. 3, resigned August 25, 1924. Mr. Simonton was appointed July 2, 1923, from New York.

Mr. Raymond R. Billings, a junior examiner of trademarks and designs, resigned July 21, 1924. Mr. Billings was appointed Mar. 27, 1923, from Massachusetts.

Mr. Miner W. Buell, an assistant patent examiner in Div. 18, was transferred on July 7, 1924, to the Navy Department. Mr. Buell was appointed Dec. 27, 1922 from Colorado.
