The preceding table shows that of 689 households studied, 76.9 per cent have heads of foreign birth, 13.8 per cent have heads who are native-born of foreign father, and 9.3 per cent of the heads of the total number of households studied are native whites born of native father.

Of the households the heads of which are native-born of foreign father, those whose heads are of Irish parentage show a higher percentage than the households the heads of which are of German parentage.

Of the households the heads of which are of foreign birth, those whose heads are French Canadians show the highest percentage, followed by the households whose heads are Poles, Irish, English, Germans, Slovaks, Hebrews, and North Italians, in the order named. The households the heads of which are of the last-named race show only 2.3 per cent of the total number of households studied.
