For the period from July 1, 1972 through January 31, 1973: The average cost of an inpatient day is $51.67 The average cost of an outpatient staff visit is $9.86 The average length of in-hospital stay is 22.5 days. The amount budgeted for FY 73 was $23,037,000 for treatment and rehabilitation in the 44 Drug Dependence Treatment Centers. Of this sum, 1.5 million is used to support Department of Veterans Benefits personnel who aid in the education and training of the patient. The amount budgeted for FY 74 is $23,900,000 for treatment and rehabilitation. d. Attached is the VA Performance Measurement System which contains a series of graphs which portray the workload trends. e.
