APPROPRIATION FOR JUDGMENT AWARDED ARTHUR L. CARTER. AN ACT to Appropriate Money to pay Arthur L. Carter the Amount of Damages Awarded by the Supreme Court of the State of South Dakota in the Case of Arthur L. Carter, Assignee vs. the State of South Dakota. Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

§ 1. APPROPRIATION.] That there is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of the state the following sum, to pay the judgment awarded Arthur L. Carter, as assignee of the Free Press Company and William G. Yates, by the supreme court of this state on the 24th day of December, 1896, two thousand two hundred and forty-six and fifty-one one-hundredths dollars ($2,246.51). And the auditor of state is hereby directed to issue a warrant to said Arthur L. Carter for said sum, upon satisfaction of the said judgment and the treasurer of the state is hereby directed to pay the same.

§ 2. EMERGENCY.] An emergency is hereby declared to exist and this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

APPROPRIATION FOR PER DIEM AND MILEAGE OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS.

AN ACT Appropriating Money for the Per Diem and Mileage of Presidential Electors Elected at the Last General Election.

Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

§ 1. APPROPRIATION.] That there is hereby appropriated the following sums of money, or as much thereof as may be necessary, out of any moneys in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying the expenses of the presidential electors elected at the last general election: ...Seventy (70) Dollars .One Hundred Sixty-two (162) Dollars

§ 2. EMERGENCY.] An emergency is hereby declared to exist and this act shall be in force from and after its passage and approval.

APPROPRIATION TO REIMBURSE ROBERT D. FARIS.

AN ACT to Appropriate One Hundred Thirty-Three and 75-100 Dollars ($133.75) to Reimburse Robert D. Faris, Ex-Sheriff of Edmunds County for Expenses Incurred on Requisition of Daniel Price.

Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

§ 1. APPROPRIATION.] That there be and there is hereby appropriated out of moneys in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one hundred and thirty-three and 75100 dollars ($133.75) to reimburse Robert D. Faris, ex-sheriff of Edmunds county, South Dakota, for disbursements made and expended by him in and about the arrest, capture and return of Daniel Price, a defaulting township treasurer of Edmunds county, South Dakota, under requisition made and delivered by the governor of South Dakota, and while said Robert D. Faris was sheriff of said Edmunds county, South Dakota.

§ 2. DUTY OF AUDITOR.] That said money be paid upon presentation of a voucher to be approved by the auditor of the state and upon a warrant issued by him.

§ 3. EMERGENCY.] Whereas, an emergency exists this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

APPROPRIATION FOR ADDITIONAL CLERK HIRE FOR SENATE EMPLOYES OF THE FIFTH LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

AN ACT to Appropriate Money for Additional Clerk Hire for Employes of the Senate of the Fifth Session of the Legislature and Additional Mileage for the President of the Senate of the State of South Dakota.

Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

§ 1. APPROPRIATION.] There is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of the state treasury not otherwise appropriated the sum of three thousand dollars ($3,000) or so much thereof as is necessary for the purpose of paying employes of the senate of the fifth session of the legislature of the state of South Dakota, and also nineteen dollars and fifty cents ($19.50)

additional mileage for the president of the senate not heretofore provided for.

§ 2. EMERGENCY.] Whereas, an emergency exists this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

APPROPRIATION TO THE C. M. & ST. P. RY. CO. FOR CARRYING FREIGHT.

AN ACT Appropriating Money to Pay the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway Company for Carrying Freight for Use of the State University at Vermillion, South Dakota.

Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

§ 1. APPROPRIATION.] That there is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of four thousand and three hundred twentynine and thirty-eight one-hundredths dollars ($4,329.38) to pay the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul railway company for carrying freight for use of the state university at Vermillion, South Dakota.

§. 2. DUTY OF AUDITOR.] The state auditor shall issue a warrant for the sum of money hereby appropriated upon an itemized voucher filed in his office for said amount with a receipt in full signed by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul railway company by its president.

§ 3. EMERGENCY.] Whereas, an emergency exists, therefore this act shall take immediate effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

APPROPRIATION FOR SOLDIERS' HOME.

AN ACT to Appropriate Money to A. F. Page Company for deficiencies, for Furnishing Certain Steam Apparatus and Other Supplies for the Soldiers' Home at Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

§ 1. APPROPRIATION.] There is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of the state, not otherwise appropriated, the following sum of money to defray the deficiency to A. F. Page company for furnishing large hot water tank and steam pump to supply the laundry and bath rooms at the soldiers' home at Hot Springs, South Dakota, and making steam connections to the various cooking utensils in said institution, and for other materials and supplies furnished to said institution in the year 1890:

A. F. Page company, Sioux City, one thousand dollars ($1,000).

§ 2. DUTY OF AUDITOR.] The state auditor shall issue warrants for the sum of money hereby appropriated, upon receipt of itemized vouchers filed in his office, and the state treasurer shall pay the same when presented.

§ 3. EMERGENCY.] Whereas, there is no law covering said deficiencies, therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.
