HOW TO USE CLEARINGHOUSE SERVICES

All of the items in the Case Developments section of the Clearinghouse Review are available to non-LSC funded subscribers for a nominal copying and mailing charge. All you have to do is fill out the order form below, giving the number, letter and title of the item that you want.

Many of the articles and case developments that appear in the Review are sent to us by persons in legal services offices who wish to share their work with the rest of the community. We strongly urge readers to send us all case developments of significance. We also encourage people to submit articles for possible publication. Articles should discuss

topics of relevance to legal services. We are oriented toward publication of "how-to" articles which will help other legal services attorneys and legal workers in the day-to-day practice of law. Article submissions should be typewritten, double-spaced, with footnotes also double-spaced and placed at the end of the article.

WE ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR COMMENTS, suggestions and/or criticisms of all aspects of the work of the Clearinghouse. Please direct comments to Director, National Clearinghouse for Legal Services, Inc., 407 S. Dearborn, Suite 400, Chicago, IL 60605, (312) 939-3830.

When your program has an opening for an attorney position, remember that the Job Market section of Clearinghouse Review gives you access to the largest and most qualified audience of job candidates. The Review goes to all legal services attorneys and paralegals, and to a number of law schools and public interest lawyers who are paid subscribers. In addition, we send the Job Market section in newsletter form several weeks ahead of Review distribution to all law school placement offices, some of whom recycle the ads into their own alumni placement newsletters as well as making the newsletter available to graduating students. The newsletter, Job Market Previews, is also sent to all legal services programs. At 25¢ per word, your ad gets a lot of exposure among the lawyers who would be most interested-see page 687 of this issue for details on how to place an ad. It has been suggested by readers that secretaries and paralegals may be interested in relocating and programs are urged to consider advertising for those positions also.

Under the terms of our contract with the Legal Services Corporation, each legal services attorney and paralegal in an LSC-funded program is entitled to a free subscription to Clearinghouse Review and to use of our order department services. So when you have hired that new attorney, make sure the office is receiving the correct number of copies of the Review so that the newcomer will have his or her own copy. Don't forget to include other professional positions, such as training coordinators, community legal education specialists, and librarians. To change the number of subscriptions your office receives, call or write Pat Gordon at the Clearinghouse, (312) 939-3830, and allow about two months for the change to be effective at our mailing list service.
