Input: The Census Bureau provides data on all import transactions for each month. The U.S. Customs Service provides data on specific controlled items. Content: Two data files are maintained. The other is a history file of all import transactions which grows at a rate of about 30,000+ 154-character records per month. The system compares import quantities with negotiated quotas to determine what portion of the quota has been filled. A sub-system produces an intermediate data base, comprising a shipping profile from which the automated performance report is generated. Output: The system produces a performance report on all textile products and an early warning report on those items on which possible overshipments are projected. Both reports are generated monthly.
