Availability: Agency Contact Geographic Relevance: International Purpose: Publications are issued to support the intelligence needs of U.S. Government officials; they provide basic background and current information about foreign countries on topics of interest to these officials. Input: The information is collected primarily from foreign newspapers, books, magazines, journals, and official publications of foreign governments. Content: The publications in these aids cover a wide range of subjects, with economic and biographic information predominating. The biographic reference aids are directories and listings of foreign officials, especially those of Communist and Communist Bloc countries. (These aids include "Chiefs of State and Cabinet members of Foreign Countries, appearances of Chinese and Soviet officials, and some wall charts showing the names and positions of foreign government officials.)
