It is the center for à variety of cultural and information activities. A reading room is a USIA library operation with a book collection of less than 4,000 volumes, staffed entirely by local employees. Limited cultural and information activities may be conducted in conjunction with the library operation. The costs shown by country on this list include the operating costs of information centers, reading rooms and similar operations conducted in locations that are not formally classified as centers or reading rooms. 2 Costs shown relate to operations similar to those carried on in information centers and reading rooms as indicated in the note above.
