UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Foreword This is one of a series of handbooks on foreign countries designed to bring together in convenient form basic information useful to investors and foreign traders, both potential and active. Part I provides brief background information on Paraguay, a description of the role of the Government in the economic life of the country, and an indication of the atmosphere and possibilities for private foreign investment in Paraguay. Part II is devoted to the most important features of the Paraguayan economy. Presented as appendixes are digests of Paraguayan business and tax laws, Paraguayan entry regulations, lists of official representatives in the United States and of Paraguayan trade associations, and a bibliography. In preparing the study it was impossible to anticipate every type of inquiry, but the Bureau of Foreign Commerce welcomes requests for additional information on specific investment situations. These inquiries may be addressed to the Bureau of Foreign Commerce, United States Department of Commerce, Washington 25, D. C., or to the Department's Field Offices. The study is a joint undertaking of the Foreign Operations Administration and the Department of Commerce.
