Two Task Force Reports Available

Dr. Wilson has released two reports of the Task Force on NARA Responsibilities for Federal Records and Related

Documentations.

The first report examines the authorities given by law to the National Archives with respect to defining what are Federal records and managing their creation and maintenance in Federal agencies, and makes recommendations for improvements in the law and its implementation.

The second report published in March 1988 examines the administration of Presidential records both during a President's term of office and in the period after the President leaves office according to authorities given by law to the National Archives. The report describes the consultative role undertaken by NARA in past administrations (before the present law took effect), as well as in the current administration.

Both reports are free and available while the supply lasts from the Office of External Affairs, National Archives, Washington, D.C. 20408.
