OTHER INCREASES - ANNUAL RECURRING ITEMS

Lease of Postal Square increased from $6,000,000 to $7,550,000.

Sec. 107 of the fiscal year 1991 Legislative Branch Appropriations
Act, P.L. 101-520, provided authority to the Architect of the Capitol
to lease approximately 150,000 square feet of space in the City Post
Office, known as Postal Square, for use by certain Senate operations.
Sec. 107 further provided that funds for such leasing would be
appropriated under the "Architect of the Capitol, Senate Office
Buildings appropriation.

An amount of $6,000,000 vas appropriated for leasing costs for
fiscal year 1993. For fiscal year 1994, a total amount of $7,550,000
is requested, an increase of $1,550,000 over the amount already in the
budget base. The request is based on presently known cost factors,
which include the base lease cost increases, in an amount of $900,000,
as well as the amortization of the GSA Above Standard Building Costs,
in an amount of $650,000, required by the leasing arrangement between
GSA and the Architect of the Capitol. Approval to request funds in the
fiscal year 1994 budget for this project has been sought from the
Senate Committee on Rules and Administration.

General Annual Repairs and Alterations increased from $109,000 to $117,000....

This allotment provides for the annual repairs and maintenance of
Senate Office Buildings electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners,
scrubbing machines, door systems, fork lift trucks, fire alarm systems,
masonry materials, sheet metal materials, etc. Repairs to hand and
trash trucks and other equipment in use throughout the buildings are
also provided. Repairs to roofs also come under this item.
requested increase of $8,000 is to meet the current need for this item,
which will cover inflationary increases over the past two years. This
allotment was last increased in fiscal year 1992.
