This morning the Subcommittee on Railroad Retirement will open hearings on H.R. 12362 which proposes to remove certain restrictions on the payment of spouse's benefits under the Railroad Retirement Act. R. 12362 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES SEPTEMBER 8, 1964 Read twice and referred to the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare AN ACT To amend the Railroad Retirement Act of 1937 to eliminate the provisions which reduce the annuities of the spouses of retired employees by the amount of certain monthly benefits payable under title II of the Social Security Act. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That the last proviso of subsection (e) of section 2 of the 4 Railroad Retirement Act of 1937 (45 U.S.C. 228b (e)) is 5 amended by striking out "and the amount of any monthly 6 insurance benefit, other than a wife's or husband's insurance 7 benefit,", and by further striking out "or section 202" and 8 all that follows down to the period at the end of such 9 subsection. |
