In our hearings today and tomorrow the subcommittee will address itself to the merits of S. 2528, which would amend Public Law 874 in order to provide assistance to local educational agencies in the education of children of needy families and children residing in areas of substantial unemployment with unemployed parents, and to S. 2725, which would amend Public Laws 815 and 874 to provide financial assistance in the construction and operation of public elementary and secondary schools in areas affected by major disaster. The chairman on behalf of his colleagues on the subcommittee, wishes to express to each witness who will testify or submit testimony, the thanks of the subcommittee for the help he will be to us in our deliberations.
