Explanation of Changes

Increases:

1. The increase of $208,000 (includes $24,000 for mandatory agency contributions for health benefit insurance, retirement, etc.) will allow for the employment of 3 additional Administrative Law Judges and the employment of additional part-time law clerks.

2. The increase of $39,000 is necessary to cover the costs of travel associated with the additional Administrative Law Judges as well as additional travel resulting from the continuing increase in ALJ workload.

3. The increase of $46,000 is necessary for the annualization of the SLUC for the Hyattsville, Maryland office.

4. The increase of $36,000 is necessary to cover the cost of court reporting fees associated with the additional Administrative Law Judges and the continuing increase in ALJ workload.

Decreases:

1. The decrease of $201,000 represents anticipated savings in printing and reproduction costs.

1/ Total appropriation includes $660,000 transfer of funds from OSHA, U.S. Department of Labor.

2/ Labor, HEW, and Related Agencies Appropriation Act was not passed during fiscal year 1973. Funding supplied for entire year through continuing resolutions.
