Comparison Between the Joint Committee's Budget The Joint Committee on Printing's Fiscal Year 1996 budget request of $1,414,000 is a $44,000 (+3.2%) increase over the FY 1995 appropriation of $1,370,000. The projected $26,000 increase in personnel compensation is comprised totally of anticipated COLA's ($6,000 or 2% for the last three months of 1995, and $20,000 for the anticipated FY 1996 COLA increase of 2.4% for the first nine months of 1996). There is a corresponding $16,000 increase for projected personnel benefits and a $2,000 increase in administrative expenses. The Joint Committee on Printing is proud of the actions it has taken during the past year in monitoring the printing and publishing activities of the Federal Government, in overseeing the Government Printing Office and in ensuring the American public has the widest possible access to government-created information at the lowest possible cost. It is for these reasons that I respectfully request your favorable consideration of the Joint Committee's budget submission for Fiscal Year 1996. Sincerely, Gendill Ford Wendell H.
