For the payment of salaries for Other Authorized Employees, $675,000. This is an increase of $171,000 or 33.93% over the amount provided in fiscal 1995.

Included in this account are personnel funds for three Former Speaker's Staff, Technical Assistants to the Attending Physician, and House Leadership Driver(s).

Mandatory Pay and Related Changes:

Personnel increases are attributed to the annualization of the FY '95 Cost of Living Adjustment, prorated FY '96 Cost of Living Adjustment and FY '96 meritorious increases.

Program Type Changes:

In FY '95 there were funded six positions for the two Former Speakers Staff. Beginning with January 1995, there is requested funding for nine positions for three former Speakers. Each Former Speaker is entitled to employ three positions set by law "in connection with the administration, settlement, and conclusion of matters pertaining to or arising out of his incumbency in office as a Representative of Congress and as Speaker of the House". The FY '96 estimated cost of the three positions is $149,000.
