Patent and Trade-Mark Review

Vol. I.

October, 1902-September, 1903.

PUBLISHED BY

New York City.

Publisher's Announcement.

THE PATENT AND TRADE MARK REVIEW hopes to greet its readers each month hereafter, giving them prompt notification of new laws and of changes in the law and practice in patents and trade marks.

The publishers of the REVIEW make this announcement with a distinct reservation. The labor and expense involved in such a publication as this are considerable, and are only to be incurred in case the demand for it is apparent and evidenced by the willingness of a considerable number of patent agents and solicitors to pay a reasonable subscription. If the information contained in the pages of the REVIEW is not of sufficient importance to patent and trade mark practitioners to warrant them in supporting the enterprise by the payment of a small subscription, the reason for its continued publication will not be apparent

to us.

The field to be covered by the REVIEW is a large and not an unimportant one. It is a well known and regretable fact that there is no book or publication in existence that contains a complete and correct collection of patent and trade mark laws, and it is no less a fact that there is no book or publication in,existence to which patent agents and solicitors may refer with a certainty of finding there a correct and reliable up-to-date statement of the law and practice in patents and trade marks in the various foreign countries.

This is due in great measure to the constant enactment of new laws; the frequent amendment of rules and regulations, and the changes in practice occasioned by the decisions of the courts. It is also due in no small measure to the extent of the field to be covered; the great difficulty in obtaining prompt information and copies of new laws, regulations and decisions; and the large expenditure of time and money necessary to get trustworthy particulars regarding the law and practice in all the various foreign countries. The expense and labor involved are in fact so great that few firms or individuals care to undertake the task.

It will be our purpose in the REVIEW to supplement the information we have already given patent agents and solicitors in our various books and publications, bringing our digests of the law and practice in the various foreign countries up to date, and then, as rapidly as possible, to publish the text of all new and important laws and regulations, as well as the more important court decisions, and many points of unwritten practice of value to solicitors, patent agents and pat

entees.

We will value any assistance that we may receive toward making the REVIEW of practical value to practitioners. Should any of our friends care to discuss or make inquiry regarding any point of patent or trade mark law or practice, wè will be glad to receive and publish any article or letter that may be sent in to us, giving proper credit for the same to the writer. Such articles or letters should be marked "For THE PATENT AND TRADE MARK REVIEW."
