METHYLENE BLUE

(FOR BACILLI)

A National Product

This stain has been developed in our laboratories in order to satisfy the demand for a stain which would possess the following properties: (1) When used as a counter-stain for acid-fast bacilli, the counter-stain must act practically instantaneously and must stain a deep blue, not a green-shade blue; (2) It must be at least 95% soluble in ethyl alcohol; (3) A saturated alcoholic solution, when added to 1-10,000 KOH solution must give Loeffler's Methylene Blue without the further addition of alkali, and such solution must not deteriorate or change to Methylene Violet within a reasonable lenth of time.

METHYLENE BLUE (Bac.)-National possesses the above properties. Tested in routine and research by ten of the leading bacteriologists of this country, it has met with their unqualified approval. This product expresses in a concrete way our policy of manufacturing dyestuffs of the highest possible quality for use as biological stains and chemical indicators.
