BITIME Leitz Microscopes are the

Laboratory and Student
Microscope "L 10"

Standard of the World

LEITZ LABORATORY AND STUDENT
MICROSCOPES "L" AND "LL"

A Student Microscope is naturally subjected to hard usuage and in order to withstand severe handling, its workmanship has to be durable beyond question.

The Leitz Laboratory and Student Microscopes embody the same high standard of optical and meehanical workmanship, so strongly identified with Leitz products, and are guaranteed, therefore, to serve in student laboratories in a more satisfactory manner than any others.

The "Leitz-Quality" is beyond comparison, and since it is unequalled, it is supreme.

Optical and Mechanical Efficiency are the chief points expected of any microscope; the Leitz instruments are recognized to possess these standards to a non-contestable degree. Write for Pamphlet No. 0-1001

In further support of the superiority of this type of bomb, the U. S. Bureau of Mines makes the following statements in Technical Paper No. 91:

No. 2384 Parr Illium Bomb

"Parr has recently designed a bomb of an acidproof base-metal alloy that is decidedly satisfactory. If the plating of a bomb is really acidproof, a plated bomb, or an alloy bomb such as Parr's, is preferable to one with a replaceable lining. . . . In the experience of the authors, this service is considerably better than that given by any threaded bomb except, perhaps, the Parr, on account of the heavy threads of the Parr lock nut."

This bomb can be employed in any of the Mahler type calorimeters or, with special modification, in the Emerson type, although it is adapted especially for use in the Parr outfits. For the most accurate determinations, we particularly recommend the Parr Adiabatic Outfit.

88 HIGH VACUUM PUMPS

Whenever in lecture-room or laboratory practice, really hig vacuum is required, we recommend the Condensation Pump deve oped by Dr. Irving Langmuir of the General Electric Companybelieving it to be superior to any other as yet obtainable.

The Langmuir Pump operates with surprising rapidity, and the seems to be no practical limit to the degree of exhaustion that ca be produced.

Some form of auxiliary pump must be used; and for that purpo we offer a special G. E. two-stage oil-sealed mechanical pump, whic is capable of producing a vacuum

0.001 mm. when used alone.

The picture shows a complete ou fit comprising Langmuir Condensatio Pump, two-stage auxiliary pump an 1⁄2 H.P. motor-all mounted togeth on one base.
