We are very pleased to open this afternoon's hearing with Senator Connie Mack as our first witness. Connie is the Chairman of our corresponding subcommittee on the Senate side. He was with us in our joint hearing, of course, and presided jointly with me on that hearing. We are very pleased to have you as our first witness. We will be discussing in this afternoon's hearing the security issues of the House as well as the Joint Economic Committee. That will be our first item. That is the item to which Senator Mack will be speaking. Then we will have the Capitol Police Board, joined by each member of that board, then the Joint Committee on Taxation, and then the Architect of the Capitol, which will be tomorrow, actually, so we will complete the Joint Committee on Taxation-that is tomorrow also, isn't it? So we will complete our hearing this afternoon with the Police Board. We see you have brought Bob Mottice, the new Executive Director, with you. If you like we will insert his bio in the record. [The information follows:] BIOGRAPHY OF ROBERT N. MOTTICE Robert N. Mottice was named Executive Director of the Joint Economic Committee by Senator Connie Mack when Senator Mack assumed the Chair of the Joint Economic Committee in January 1995. Before his appointment as Executive Director, Mr. Mottice served as Legislative Director and Economic Counsel to Senator Mack from 1989 to 1994. Mr. Mottice has also served as the Chief Economist for the Senate Republican Policy Committee from 1986 to 1988, and as Director of Fiscal Policy for the National Association of Manufacturers from 1984 to 1985. He also held the position of Assistant Professor of Economics at Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio, from 1978 to 1983. Mr. Mottice received his undergraduate degree in economics from Bowling Green State University in 1975 and his graduate degree in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1977.
