BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the tenth day of August, in the thirty-fifth year of the independence of the United States of America, A. D. 1810: Delaplaine & Hellings, and John F. Watson, of the said District, have deposited in this Office, the Title of a Book, the right whereof they claim as Proprietors, in the words following, to wit:" Narrationes exceptæ ex Latinis Scriptoribus Servato Temporum Ordine Disposita; or Select Narrations, taken from the best Latin authors, Justin, Quintus Curtius, Cæsar, Cicero, Titus Livius, Sallust, Suetonius, and Tacitus; with concise relations in English, which connects the events; The whole illustrated with explanatory notes on ancient and modern Geography: Adopted by the commission of public instruction, for the use of the Lyceums, and the secondary schools. By J. B. Dumouchel, late Professor and Rector of the University of Paris, and F. Goffaux, Professor of ancient Languages in the Lyceum of Paris. First American from the third Paris Edition. In conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, intituled, "An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the Copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors of such Copies, during the times therein mentioned." And also to the Act, enti. tled " An act supplementary to an Act, entitled, An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the Copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors of such Copies, during the time therein mentioned," and extending the Benefits thereof to the Arts of designing, engraving, and etching Historical and other Prints."

"Epitome Historie Sacra," " De Viris illustribus urbis Roma," and "Narrationes Excerpta," which I use in my Seminary, are better calculated to facilitate the knowledge of the Latin language, than any elementary books in this country: I am glad to hear of your undertaking, and wish you great success, of which, however, I have no doubt.
