Mr. BERMAN. I would now like to ask a couple of questions. Also, I would like to include a number of endorsements for my proposal, letters I have, to also be included in the record. I would just submit them to the committee.

Mr. KASTENMEIER. Without objection. [The letters follow:]

Dear Congressman:

Please be advised that the Steering Committee of the Caucus has voted unanimously to support your bill, H.R. 671.

On behalf of the entire national membership of the American
Society of Picture Professionals and its five regional chapters,
I express our whole hearted endorsement for the passage of H.R.
671.

ASPP l composed almost entirely of small businessmen

(photographers, agente, and researchers) who find protecting their copyrights burdensome if not impossible under the present conditions.

The passage H.R. 671 would put them in a position to protect
their creativo work and thus their livelihood.

We urge you and the rest of Congress to press for the swift
passage of E.R. 671.

Sincerely,

The S. Kinne

This is to inform you that the International Documentary
Association supports the passing of H.R. 671. Recently
our Board of Directors reviewed this issue, and we un-
animously feel that this legislation would be of help to
independent filmmakers, providing an important added pro-
tection against infringement of creative rights. IDA is
an organization of more than 1200 independent film and
video makers, and we believe that this bill would be most
meaningful to our members.

We will endeavor to support your efforts in passing of
this legislation in the months ahead.

Please keep us posted about the progress of H.R. 671, and
let us know if we can help in any further way.
