1 ENFORCEMENT OF PRODUCE AGENCY ACT REGULATES TRADE IN PERISHABLES The Produce Agency Act affects transactions in perishable farm products in interstate commerce. It prohibits dumping of such products without good caus any false report or statement to the shipper regarding the handling, condition, quality, quaniity, sale or disposition of such products, and failure truly and correctly account for the shipment. Copies of the act and info ation regarding its provisions and enforcement may be obtained by addressing the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, U. S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, D. C. The Produce Agency Act, which is to be administered by the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, became effective July 1, 1927, but funds for its enforcement have just been made available by presidential approval of the First Deficiency Bill. The Bureau will investigate all cases in which there seem to be good and sufficient reasons for complaint, provided the necessary evidence, documentary or otherwise, on which to base an investigation is furnished.
