The steam was supplied to the various buildings served through approximately 3 miles of steam lines. The steam generators, tunnel and steam lines were installed under the Capitol Power Plant Changes and Improvements Project, and have been in service since 1954. The output of the refrigeration plant in fiscal year 1999 was approximately 86,301,866 ton-hours of refrigeration, a negligible increase from 1998 due to the slightly warmer summer. The contributions of various Power Plant elements to these totals are identified below.
