Capitol Buildings Salaries and Expenses Fiscal Year 2001 Budget Estimate OPERATING BUDGET In fiscal year 2001 the budget request for the Architect of the Capitol is presented again as an Operating Budget and a Capital For the fiscal year 2001 budget justifications, detailed narrative descriptions and other information are provided for all annual CB.12 This allotment provides for salaries and wages paid directly to employees including paid leave and lump sum annual leave payments $1,172,000 The following positions have been identified as most crucial to the operations of the Architect's Office: 13 positions for the Life CB.15 Capitol Buildings Salaries and Expenses Life Safety Program Fiscal Year 2001 Budget Estimate Funds are requested to hire 13 positions in the Life Safety Program Division. There is an urgent need to meet increased and new regulations and to assure a safe work place. diverse workload requirements to o address new Safety Specialist - Program/Policy (5) - These positions will be responsible for conducting and documenting routine occupational safety and health compliance audits and inspections; investigating accidents and occupational injuries and illnesses; conducting analysis of gathered data; researching new regulations and technologies for potential application; and other similar issues. Additionally, these positions are responsible for the oversight of safety contracts and for the provision of Contractor/Consultant capabilities. The positions are requested at the GS-11 level. Program Development Engineer (8) - These positions will be responsible for program and policy development associated with safety compliance issues. This group will be comprised of Fire Protection, Safety, and Environmental Engineers who are capable of interpreting standards and regulations, assessing jurisdictional requirements and limitations, and developing policy and plans for implementation at agency and jurisdictional levels. The positions are requested at the GS-13 level. Engineering Division - Funds are requested to hire 4 additional employees in the Engineering Division HVAC Engineer (1) - There is an increasing need for additional technical assistance for the proper functioning of the Air Conditioning Engineering Division (ACED). The division performs engineering design for projects involving HVAC systems, as its original mission, in all buildings under jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol. This includes the development of system designs, working drawings and specifications, construction support, procurement and supervision of installation of new equipment and systems, as well as supervision and assistance over maintenance and operation of installed systems. Furthermore, the division oversees the work of various consultants employed by the Architect of the Capitol. In order to ensure quality work and a timely completion of the project, it is imperative that AOC engineers perform a thorough CB.16 |
