their schools, than they themselves appropriate, fifteen of them including Little Compton, expended all they received; the remaining nineteen had money unxpended in the treasury, and all through the State the towns which raised the smallest amount, comparatively speaking, are the ones which have money unexpended in the treasury. I have endeavored in this report, fellow citizens, to call your attention to several essential requisites of a good school, and in conclusion, permit me to repeat them,-well-qualified officers, able teachers, comfortable school-houses, interested parents and regularly attending pupils,—give us these and our advancement in knowledge and power, in wealth and morality will indeed be rapid and glorious.
